Scope and Contents
The contents of the manuscript are as follows:(i) A copy, in a hand of the late 17th century, of the `Memoirs` of Walter Pringle (folio 1). These were first published in 1723 from a copy of the original manuscript by James Pringle of Greenknowe, 1684. The relationship of the present manuscript to that copy is unknown.(ii) A detached leaf, headed Section XIX and paginated 81-82, concerning the history of Clan Chattan (folio 35). Scope and Contents
The text was compiled in 1752, but has additions up to 1773, and is written on paper watermarked 1811. The manuscript may originally have been compiled by William Grant, Lord Prestongrange, the account of whose life is unusually detailed (folio 48) and whose Hanoverian politics are reflected in the account of some eighteenth-century Grants (for example folio 43).
